According to gov.uk ‘2019 was the wettest autumn on record, and February 2020 was the wettest February on record, with some places receiving four times their average rainfall’.
In February 2020 we saw local area Ironbridge ‘experience the highest river levels since the year 2000’ and according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) over 82,000 people in the UK claimed for flood or wind damage as a result of storms Dennis and Ciara in February 2020 - the total cost of repairing homes and businesses is expected to top £360 million.
As the UK’s climate becomes wetter and we experience more incidents of flooding, do you know what equipment you would need for a flood clean up?
The Kerstar range, manufactured by Filtermist International, includes the KV 100 Wet & Dry and the KV 100 Wet Pick-up for use in flood recovery, water tank emptying, fire services and flat roofing. Its high capacity has been especially designed to cope with large volumes of liquid.
The KV 100 range is made of a very strong implosion resistant rotationally moulded plastic canister mounted on a heavy-duty epoxy coated tubular caddy. The motor head is moulded from thick section dent and corrosion resistant plastic ensuring the product is robust. The detachable caddy is fitted with two rear wheels and two heavy duty swivel castors for easy transportation to where flood water is present. The product range is available in both 110v and 230v options.
Kerstar Product Manager Ben Kimpton comments, “The KV 100 Wet & Dry model, is fitted with a drain hose and stopper to facilitate quick liquid disposal. The wet pick-up model is fitted with a high-quality stainless steel submersible pump, automatic float type level switch and 10 metre long see through discharge hose. This allows continuous collection and pump out – especially useful for flooded basements and tanks or where it is too far to push the unit to the water disposal point.”
Kerstar was established in 1959, and its range of portable industrial cleaners, including ATEX-accredited machines for use in explosion risk environments, continues to be manufactured in the UK and exported to more than 19 countries worldwide.
